Gabrel Tan

Gabrel Tan is Veneziano Coffee Roasters’ brand ambassador and Australia’s 2026 Barista Champion. Malaysian-born, he finished fourth in the world final in Panama City on his first WBC campaign. His national record includes second place in 2022, 2024 and 2025, third in 2023, and the 2026 title with 746 points. Preparation took him to Panama and South Sumatra with Veneziano colleague Jack Allisey and producers. His routine in Panama, «The Power of Recognition», paired a washed Geisha from Finca Lérida in Boquete, Panama, for espresso with a Kartika from Raymond Ali’s Finca Ali in South Sumatra for milk drinks; his signature drink combined the two with koji-fermented tamarillo, cacao husk and cherry-infused water.
